The East Greenbush Animal Hospital is seeking and motivated and hardworking animal lover to join our team as the manager of our kennel facility within the animal hospital. The primary responsibilities of the kennel manager are greeting clients, admitting pets to the facility, feeding, handling, and providing for a clean environment for our boarding and hospitalized pets. In addition to boarding pets, the kennel assists in providing care for hospitalized patients.

Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience managing people
  • Minimum one year working with animals in a professional environment
  • Over 18 years of age
  • Reliable transportation (public transportation not readily available in this area)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds alone, larger weights with help
  • Be flexible with hours and available to work some holidays and weekends
  • Be comfortable standing, walking, and being active for most of the day
  • Excellent personal hygiene
  • Handle communication with clients, staff, and doctors with a professional demeanor

General knowledge:

  • Communication skills when assigning tasks or providing feedback
  • Reasonably familiar with dog and cat breeds
  • Safe handling of animals

We are seeking a motivated animal lover to join our team as a member of the East Greenbush Animal Hospital in our boarding facility.

The position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Keeping cages clean and sanitized
  • Walking, feeding, and picking up after animals
  • Various housekeeping duties (laundry, dishes, taking out the garbage, etc)
  • Checking pets in and out of our boarding facility
  • Playing with and interacting with cats, dogs, and rabbits of all sizes and breeds
  • Bathing dogs
  • Nail trimming on dogs and cats

Applicant must:

  • Be friendly and outgoing as you will be interacting with clients on a daily basis
  • Be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be willing and able to safely restrain or move dogs of all sizes including dogs over 100 pounds
  • Be flexible with hours and available to work some holidays and weekends
  • Be comfortable standing, walking, and being active for most of the day
  • Be able to handle excited dogs who may bark and jump

Polite people skills and personal cleanliness/neatness are a must. Reliability and reliable transportation are requirements. Assistants have opportunities to work with the technical staff gaining knowledge and experience in the veterinary field. We are looking for mature responsible people to join our daycare facility, Big Red Doghouse, located adjacent to East Greenbush Animal Hospital. You will work under the supervision of the doggie daycare manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • monitoring overall activities of the dogs in daycare
  • ensure proper playgroups are assembled
  • monitor play to prevent injuries or fights
  • keep play area facilities clean
  • follow schedules for naptime and snacks
  • make sure dogs have an opportunity to relieve themselves
  • discuss daily events with staff and pet parents
